Eric Carle Art

To complete our Inquiry about "Insects" we used Eric Carles's painting techniques and then collage to construct a Praying Mantis. They look so real!!!

Antony and an author, illustrator

An author asked us "Where do stories come from?" We replied, the library and the shop. She told us it was our imagination and that we could write our own books. She used puppets to tell a story. She showed us how to make a book and how she started illustrating.

Character Parade

On the final day of Literacy week we all came dressed up as a book character and there was a parade in the hall for the whole school. Can you tell which character we were, especially Mrs Huang?

Working with our buddies in Literacy week

Mrs Dijkstra read "My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes" illustrated by Lynley Dodd. We drew our own cat and contents of a box that we thought our cat might like to hide in. There were Smiggle, Toy, Jewellery, Minecraft, Treasure, Make-up, Sweets and many more boxes. We enjoyed working alongside oue buddies.

Teacher Swap

During Literacy week, after morning tea the Junior Teachers swapped classes and read.
These are the books that Mrs Dijkstra read. We thought of many different ways to solve the problem in the stories.

Wednesday of Literacy Week

On Wednesday we watched a show. It was about Internet Safety. It was very clever and very funny!

Mrs Divers read "The Cheese Trap" by Joy Cowley and we dicussed what was the problem and solution.

Mrs Dijkstra read us Joy Cowley's "The Little Yellow Chicken" and we made stick puppets and retold the story.

We also asked questions if we were the Interviewer or answered

questions if we were the character. 

Mrs Dijkstra also read books by Gavin Bishop and Margaret Mahy - two more wonderful

 New Zealand authors.

Day 2 Literacy Week

On Tuesday Mrs Divers read "Mrs Mud Mudpuddle" and we sequenced the story working with a buddy. Our wonderful Grandparents visited after morning tea.Then we completed some "Slinki Malinki" activities. In the afternoon we made our own jellybean hat after listening to "The Hat Sale" by Joy Cowley.

Emily's Wonky Donkey adjectives

We began our Literacy Week by listening to the story "The Wonky Donkey " by Craig Smith. We then coloured in a picture and made paper chains to write adjectives on that described the Wonky Donkey. Here is Emily's looking fabulous!
